Our Home Building Process

Our home building process starts with an at-home consultation. This allows Greg Hasler to establish a personal connection with potential clients, discuss their vision, address concerns, and ensure a shared understanding for a successful luxury home project.

After the initial meeting, we will complete a pre-construction agreement. Pre-construction agreements establish clear expectations, timelines, and responsibilities. This ensures that the construction process is smooth and well-organized.

The next step in our custom home building process involves spending time in the client’s home or property. This allows us to develop a comprehensive understanding of the client’s vision and to conceptualize the project. As a result, we can deliver personalized design solutions and offer informed decision-making – for a successful renovation or custom build.

The project manager and coordinator will now start organizing and planning your project. During this stage of the construction process, they will also prepare a Class D Budget. This organization and planning stage ensures a smooth start, effective resource allocation, and cohesive execution of your renovation or new home build.

A Class D Budget is a cost estimate based on your requirements and the conceptual design.

Next, we gather a team of experienced professionals to oversee and work on your project. Depending on your requirements, the team may include an engineer, energy consultant, architect, interior designer, landscape architect, arborist, etc.

This team of trusted professionals will provide expertise, guidance, and collaboration, ensuring informed decision-making and a successful renovation or home building process.

During this stage of the construction process, our building team will further examine the building site and begin making necessary preparations. This step ensures a thorough understanding of the project and efficient construction execution.

With more concrete details in hand, our team will prepare a detailed project estimate and budget. This step in the custom home building process ensures realistic expectations, cost control, and budget adherence.

At Hasler Homes, we employ a progressive approach to environmentally conscious construction practices. Our home-building team excels at offering cost-effective recommendations for sustainable and energy-efficient solutions. At this stage in the construction process, we will present you with eco-friendly home building options.

Next, our team will help you select and source home-building materials. To ensure we acquire high-quality materials that achieve your desired aesthetic, we collaborate with the project architect and interior designer. During this stage of the home building process, your project coordinator will also prepare a Class B Budget. 

A Class B Budget is a cost estimate based on the architectural and interior drawings and includes a material takeoff. 
Using this precise material takeoff, we solicit detailed quotes from up to ten trades. After reviewing these quotes, our team will present you with three options. All trade options will offer quality workmanship but varying levels of high-end features and capabilities.

Once building permits are awarded, construction will commence with the selection of the primary trades – electrical, plumbing, and heating. At this stage in the home building process, your project coordinator will also develop a Class A Budget. 

A Class A Budget is a comprehensive financial plan that covers all anticipated costs, including materials, labour, permits, and contingencies.

Team Hasler collaborates with energy consultants, Built Green Canada, and Holmes Approved Homes to ensure reliable quality inspections at each stage of the construction process.

Having a third-party organization evaluate the quality of craftsmanship provides an additional layer of impartial assessment. This ensures compliance with industry standards and enhances overall construction quality and customer satisfaction. These inspections also offer independent validation of our work, promoting accountability and instilling confidence in the final product.

Hasler Homes’ Office Team provides timely project scheduling and regular status reports throughout the custom home building process. Weekly status reports ensure our clients stay informed and that our projects progress smoothly.

Once a custom home build or renovation is complete, our team conducts a final walk-through with the homeowner. This allows for a comprehensive inspection so we can address any concerns and ensure client satisfaction.
