A before & after is always fun to share!
As much as we love building custom homes, sometimes it’s not necessary. Many homes that were built decades ago, used old growth lumber which is proven to be stronger than todays lumber so if the framing is in tact, then creating a new envelope can be done using the homes ‘old bones’.
As you can see here, we did just that, and it turned out beautiful! We are very happy with this homes transformation. The homeowners were going for a Scandinavian feel and with the help of Amanda Evans Interiors, they got just that. The kitchen’s transformation is probably one of our favourite parts of this home renovation. The cupboards were literally falling off and there was barely any counter space. Now, custom cabinets & drawers by Pacific Rim Cabinets look clean and crisp. The oversized island was a great idea. With two busy kids, everyone can be at the island and no one would be short of space. They also incorporated multiple drink drawers, a wine fridge and bar storage to create a sleek bar area and leave the fridge a little less cluttered. When we were planning the building envelope renovation portion of this project, we made sure to focus on good quality windows. We always recommend clients prioritize windows & doors when renovating. As we all know, most older homes are quite drafty. The main reason for this is the quality of the windows. Kolbe Windows has done amazing work in making good quality windows at an affordable price. The added money you might put into a quality window, is going to be what you save on your energy bills. We actually visited their manufacturing plants in Wisconsin a while back and got to see first hand how they are made. It’s pretty amazing how you’ll feel the before & after difference when you change the windows!A few more before and afters of this transformation…See more photos of Canyon, here.
